Simulating Causal Collapse Models
نویسنده
چکیده
We present simulations of causal dynamical collapse models of field theories on a 1 + 1 null lattice. We use our simulations to compare and contrast two possible interpretations of the models, one in which the field values are real and the other in which the state vector is real. We suggest that a procedure of coarse graining and renormalising the fundamental field can overcome its noisiness and argue that this coarse grained renormalised field will show interesting structure if the state vector does on the coarse grained scale. a Blackett Laboratory, Imperial College, London SW7 2BZ, UK and Perimeter Institute, Waterloo, Ontario N2T

متن کاملThe need for realism when simulating network congestion
Many researchers use abstract models to simulate network congestion, finding patterns that might foreshadow onset of congestion collapse. We investigate whether such abstract models yield congestion behaviors sufficiently similar to more realistic models. Beginning with an abstract model, we add elements of realism in various combinations, culminating with a high-fidelity simulation. By compari...
متن کاملSpontaneous Collapse Models on a Lattice
We present spontaneous collapse models of field theories on a 1 + 1 null lattice, in which the causal structure of the lattice plays a central role. Issues such as “locality,” “non-locality” and superluminal signaling are addressed in the context of the models which have the virtue of extreme simplicity. The formalism of the models is related to that of the consistent histories approach to quan...
متن کاملCausal Quantum Theory and the Collapse Locality Loophole
Causal quantum theory is an umbrella term for ordinary quantum theory modified by two hypotheses: state vector reduction is a well-defined process, and strict local causality applies. The first of these holds in some versions of Copenhagen quantum theory and need not necessarily imply practically testable deviations from ordinary quantum theory. The second implies that measurement events which ...
متن کاملNumerical investigation of free surface flood wave and solitary wave using incompressible SPH method
Simulation of free surface flow and sudden wave profile are recognized as the most challenging problem in computational hydraulics. Several Eulerian/Lagrangian approaches and models can be implemented for simulating such phenomena in which the smoothed particle hydrodynamics method (SPH) is categorized as a proper candidate. The incompressible SPH (ISPH) method hires a precise incompressible hy...
